Our customer saw a growing interest in the market towards peer-to-peer systems, where people could communicate and exchange their files. Since more and more customers are expected to join the Internet, our customer decided to establish such a system. The underlying business model was to create a large user base in the system, and then obtain the revenue stream from displaying the paid banners. Since there were many similar systems in the market, our customer expected a fierce competition for the system. Therefore, the customer needed some solution that would have a comprehensive set of features to meet the demands of potentials system users and win the clients.

According to the customer demand, Novosoft developed a peer-to-peer system. The system serves as a perfect platform for creating an online community. However, unlike many other online community platforms in the market where people can only chat, the system effectively supports file sharing among its users. Importantly, the system is designed to transfer very sizable multimedia files, such as video/ audio files. That is a competitive advantage of the Novosoft work.

The solution network consists of the following client and server components:

Through a program client application a user can connect to Registration Server and Search Server, administrate his/ her user account (add/ remove/ modify personal information, peer lists, shared file lists), search for the required files, implements peer-to-peer file transfer, and connect to the program Chat Server and chat with other users using program client interface.

The solution has a user-friendly interface and easy navigation across the system facilitating the program use. That is a critical success factor in attracting people to become system users.

Another characteristic is a high reliability of the system. High level of protection makes the possibility of hacking the system and stealing private files very low. That is a very important factor in users' perception, since most of them care much about the content of their files.
